The international photo exhibition “Mother and children in national costumes” is presented in Venezuela at the Venezuelan International Book Fair “FILVEN”.
The fair presented a program to support the national literatures of the peoples of the Russian Federation, as well as the first collection of poems in Spanish by Rasul Gamzatov.
Ambassador S.M.Melik-Bagdasarov spoke about Russia’s contribution to achieving the goals of the International Decade of the World’s Indigenous Languages (2022-2032) through the Program of Support for National Literatures of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.
The cultural and ethnic diversity of our homeland was illustrated by the exhibition “Mother and Children in national Costumes”, created under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and with the support of the Federal Agency for Nationalities of Russia.

As part of the event, the Venezuelan audience was presented with the first collection of poems in Spanish by Rasul Gamzatov, the brightest representative of the indigenous peoples of Dagestan.

Throughout history, we have been very careful about the culture of any people, including indigenous and small–numbered ones – from the Caucasus to the Far East. In Russia, the rights of peoples are guaranteed both by law and in practice. We are pleased to have the opportunity to present unique works of national literature at the FILVEN International Book Fair in Caracas.
At the end, a quiz was held on the topic of national proverbs of the peoples of Russia, during which Venezuelans and Russian compatriots together touched the treasury of age-old wisdom passed from mouth to mouth through generations.
